Will Changing My Thermostat Fix It?
A reader was insulted by reading the information in this article. He said: "Although the article Heatpro linked (this article) had some sound advice, I thought the tone of it was "blatantly insulting" to do-it-yourselfers. I thought that was what this site was about: do-it-yourselfers seeking and giving advice."
That was why he was insulted, he was looking for the impossible peers who actually know about sophisticated heat pump circuitry that the pros usually struggle with AND could guess which wiring diagrams applied to his unidentified heat pump. It could have been yet another social discussion to make each other feel good about not knowing what they were doing - an extension of the 'social promotion' school policies.
So he said:" If you had said "There is not enough info to answer the question or there is no way to tell without being in front of the equipment and studying the wiring diagrams for your specific equipment, so you should consult a trained HVAC contractor" I would have respected that answer." Seems he could have no way to respect someone giving him an entire article describing the same in great detail.
Therefore, if you want to argue that you want information from someone with no experience in HVAC, read no further.
Call the Pro if you are unfamiliar with HVAC equipment.
