Ladies and Gentlemen; presenting the amazingly clueless Beavis and Butthead Flaming Ritual:

1. Someone posts a question that really can't be answered because they don't give enough information.

2. Someone seriously points out that the question can't be answered because they need more information.

The 'blamestorm' begins:

3. The original poster insists that he wants an answer, then insults the serious responder (standard flame) for not being a help. (At this point, all the original poster would have had to do is give the information requested, so the responder could give an answer.)

4. A third party comes on (Tag Team Flaming) diverts the conversation (hijacks the thread) to insult the serious responder because the original poster used bad language which convinced the third party that the serious responder is really a bad person.

5. The moderator [Interceder Flamer - in industry role, a hall monitor] hijacks the thread to ask the serious responder not to use bad language (which he didn't use) - but she (usually she) didn't read any of the above, doesn't understand any of the above, but she knows that the initial poster wouldn't have flamed and defamed if the serious responder didn't irritate him. She instinctually knows from animal-training experience that separating the animals will calm them ( that these are people who need to communicate to reach an understanding doesn't phase her.) So she tells the serious responder that the person gave enough information in the first post (insulting the serious responder and his intelligence, AND the intelligence of anyone who can read for themselves) - and that they shouldn't use bad language. She then engages in defamation, labelling the responder as condescending (as teaching and moderating is guiding people, it IS condescending.)

6. At this point the moderator locks the thread so nobody can respond at all and the thread is useless, or she lets more of her friends get on to tell the serious responder off.
